Kinly ("we", "the App") is an independently developed iOS application for building a family tree and preserving family stories. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data the App handles, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Data you create

The App stores only the information you choose to enter about your family:

• Family members — names, birth and death years, gender, relationships, and notes.
• Life events and stories — dates and descriptions you write for births, marriages, and other moments.
• Photos — images you attach to a member or event.
• App preferences — your family name, which member represents you, and reminder settings.

This data is stored locally on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, synced to your private iCloud account through Apple's CloudKit and iCloud key‑value storage. It is never sent to us.

2. Third‑party services

Apple iCloud (CloudKit) — If iCloud is enabled on your device, your family data syncs across your own devices through your personal iCloud account. This data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The App uses no other third‑party services.

3. Data we do NOT collect

• We do not require an account — no name, email, or phone number is collected.
• We do not track your location.
• We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs.
• We do not display ads or share data with advertisers.
• We do not sell your data to any third party.
• We do not operate any servers that store your personal data.

4. Photos

The App requests photo library access only when you choose to add a photo to a family member or event. Photos are stored within your own app data (on your device and, if enabled, your private iCloud) and are never uploaded to us or any third party.

5. Notifications

If you enable birthday or anniversary reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device. These are generated on‑device from your own family data. We do not send marketing or push messages from any server.

6. In‑App Purchases

The App offers Kinly Pro as an auto‑renewing yearly subscription or a one‑time lifetime purchase. All purchases are processed entirely by Apple's App Store. We do not receive or have access to your payment information.

7. Data storage and security

All data is stored locally on your device and in your private iCloud account (if enabled). iCloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. Because there are no app servers, no one but you — and anyone you personally share an export with — can see your tree.

8. Sharing and exports

You can export your family tree (for example, as a GEDCOM file) or share it using the standard iOS share sheet. Any export is initiated and controlled entirely by you; whoever you send it to will be able to see its contents.

9. Data deletion

You can delete members, events, and other data at any time within the App. Uninstalling the App removes all local data from your device. Data stored in iCloud can be managed or removed through your device's iCloud settings.

10. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information directly from children. Any information you enter about relatives (including children) is your own data, stored privately on your device and in your iCloud account.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
