TextVoice for Android — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

TextVoice turns text into speech entirely on your phone. Your text is never uploaded to be read aloud, and the developer collects nothing. There is no server behind this app.

Using TextVoice on iPhone or iPad? See the iOS privacy policy instead — that version syncs History through your own iCloud. This one has no sync; the only copy that can leave your phone is Android's own backup, described below.

We do not collect your data

The developer does not collect, receive, store, or sell any personal information from this app. There is no account to create, no sign-in, and no user profile.

The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs. It does not read or transmit your advertising ID.

What stays on your device

Everything you put into the app, and everything it produces, stays in the app's private storage on your phone:

None of this is readable by us or by any third party. You can delete history entries and clear cached files inside the app, and uninstalling the app removes all of it from your device (see Android backup for the copy Android may keep in your Google account).

When the app uses the internet

The app is designed to work offline. It connects to the network in only three situations, none of which sends us your content:

  1. One-time voice model download. On first use, the app downloads the speech models (about 380 MB) over HTTPS from the public Hugging Face repository huggingface.co/Supertone/supertonic-3. This is a plain download. No information about you or your text is sent. As with any web request, Hugging Face's servers will see your device's IP address; their handling of it is governed by their own privacy policy.
  2. Importing a web article. If you paste a link, the app fetches that page directly from the website you specified, in order to extract the article text. That website receives a normal web request from your device and will see your IP address and user agent. The app sends the request only when you ask it to, and only to the address you entered. Nothing is routed through us.
  3. Opening Google Play links, for example to manage a subscription. These open in Google Play or your browser and are handled by Google.

Speech is always generated on your phone. Text is never sent anywhere to be read aloud.

Purchases

TextVoice Pro is sold through Google Play Billing. Payments, subscriptions, and refunds are handled entirely by Google. The developer never sees your payment details. The app only receives from Google the fact that a purchase is active, so that it can unlock features. Google's handling of purchase data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

Google Play services

Two features rely on components provided by Google Play services, which run in Google's own process on your device rather than inside the app:

Data handled by these components is subject to Google's privacy policy.

Android backup

If backup is turned on for your device, Android's built-in backup service may save a copy of your reading history (the text and your progress), your settings, and your list of recently imported web pages to your own Google account, so they come back when you reinstall the app or move to a new phone. Generated audio files and the voice models are not included.

This backup is made and stored by Android and Google, not by us. The developer cannot access it. On Android 9 and later it is end-to-end encrypted with your device's screen lock. You can turn it off, or delete it, in your device's Settings under Google › Backup.

Sharing and exporting audio

The app can export generated audio as M4A or WAV and hand it to the Android share sheet. This happens only when you choose to do it, and the file goes to whichever app you pick. The developer is not involved in that transfer and does not receive the file.

Permissions

PermissionWhy the app asks for it
Internet, network stateDownload the voice models once; fetch a web page you ask to import
Foreground service, media playbackKeep reading aloud while the app is in the background
NotificationsShow playback controls while reading

The app does not request access to your camera, contacts, location, microphone, or files on your device. Photos are chosen through the Android photo picker, which gives the app only the images you select.

AI-generated speech

TextVoice produces synthetic speech using on-device AI models. Please do not use it to impersonate other people, to create misleading material, or for any unlawful purpose, and please disclose that audio is AI-generated when you publish it.

Feedback email

If you tap "Send feedback" in Settings, your email app opens a pre-filled message addressed to the developer. The draft includes the app version, your device manufacturer and model, and your Android version — the things we would otherwise have to ask you first. Nothing is sent until you press send in your own email app, and you can edit or delete any of it beforehand.

Children

TextVoice is not directed at children and is not designed for use by children under 13.

Your choices

Because we never receive your data, there is no account to close and no data for us to delete on your behalf. Within the app you can delete individual history entries, clear cached files, and remove the downloaded voice models. Uninstalling the app removes all remaining data from your device; any Android backup in your Google account is managed in your device settings, as described above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
